Dark Horse/Fallen Shadows – a 48 hour dance performance

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out to Salt Lake Art Center during Dark Horse/Fallen Shadows.  It was a beautiful performance envisioned by Gary Vlasic and based on the dance hall marathon craze during the Great Depression, where dancers literally danced until they dropped.  The main performances, choreographed by Todd Allen, included intense heart throbbing dancing along with mellow and rhythmic couple’s slow dancing in the background.  The audience was allowed to watch the dancing from the main gallery, as long as they remained completely silent.  The Art Center remained open during the entire length of the performance and really tested the staff’s endurance, as well as Gary Vlasic’s, who remained in the gallery during all 48 hours.  Visitors were invited to join in the couple’s dancing during most hours of the performance.  Free breakfast was served by The Blended Table and midnight treats were provided by Blossom Fine Foods.  If you were not able to experience this event do not fret because Salt Lake Art Center has many more inspiring and thought-provoking exhibitions coming up, so stay tuned!
